Background: Merlan O'Keefe was once an ordinary human, living a quiet life in a small Irish village. Born in 1981, she grew up with a strong sense of justice and compassion, always seeking to help others. As a young woman, she worked as a nurse, providing care and comfort to those in need. However, her life took a dramatic turn when she encountered the supernatural world.

Encounter with the Supernatural: In 2004, Merlan’s village became the target of a demonic attack, with a powerful demon slaughtering most of the residents. Merlan, driven by desperation and a deep-seated need to protect others, stood up against the demonic force, even though she was only human. Her bravery caught the attention of a group of angels who had been observing the situation. They saw potential in her—a rare strength of spirit and an unyielding will.

The Transformation: Following her death during the demonic attack, Merlan’s soul was taken to Heaven, where she was given a choice. The angels offered her a second chance: to return to Earth as an angel, one of Heaven’s soldiers, to continue the fight against the forces of darkness. Merlan accepted, determined to protect humanity from the horrors she had witnessed. She became a Seraph under Jack as the new God.

Becoming an Angel: Merlan was transformed into a celestial being, her human essence merged with angelic grace. She retained her human appearance—pale ivory skin, hazel eyes, and wavy brown hair—but now possessed the powers and responsibilities of an angel. Her healing abilities were amplified, and she gained the power to smite demons and protect the innocent.

Role in the Supernatural Universe: Merlan's transformation coincided with the events of Season 15 of Supernatural, during the final battle between the Winchesters, Jack, and Chuck (God). As an angel, Merlan operated under the radar, assisting where she could without drawing attention from the major players. She often intervened in smaller, local skirmishes, protecting towns and individuals who were caught in the crossfire of the celestial war.

Post-Season 15: After the defeat of Chuck and the restructuring of Heaven under Jack's leadership, Merlan found herself in a new role. She became a guardian angel of sorts, tasked with guiding lost souls and protecting humans from the remnants of the supernatural chaos. Her past as a human gave her a unique perspective among angels—one that allowed her to connect deeply with the people she protected.

Current Status: In the present day, Merlan continues to watch over humanity, blending in as a mortal when necessary but always ready to reveal her true nature when the situation demands it. She has embraced her dual identity as both former human and celestial being, using her powers to heal, protect, and fight against the darkness that still lingers in the world. After gabriel faked his death in an alternate universe, he returned to the present universe to protect Sam's son. She encountered Gabriel a few years post S15 and quietly stuck by his side.

➸ Telepathy: Can read minds but only if she’s holding eye contact with someone or she knows them really well enough to find their mind amidst the roar of psychic feedback she’s learned to tune out. Touch makes the contact stronger, so she usually wears gloves.

➸ Hyperlinguist: She is able to rapidly assimilate spoken languages by passively hooking into a person’s language centre of their brain in order to understand them. It usually takes a few days of attempting to communicate with them, though. It’s well tied with her other telepathic abilities (telepathy and telempathy). Written communication is different and takes more time, maybe a few solid months if it’s not a language she’s ever heard before. It helps, though, if the person she’s trying to communicate with is working with her to resolve the language barrier.

➸ Telempathy: Can influence and read people’s emotions, only works with Humans, good for crowd control. Sometimes she’ll accidentally broadcast emotion which may influence others if they’re nearby. Most of the time she keeps a lid on it.

➸ Telekinesis: Only good for lighter things, kinda weak-sauce in the show-off department. It’s saved her life on more occasions than she can count, though. It also makes cleaning up a breeze. She can’t lift a car or a human being, but she can push them away decently. Merlan absolutely loves playing with water or any sort of liquid, especially when stressed but she has enough sense to do it where people who know her are - definitely not in public.

➸ Flight/Wings: As protection, Micah has gifted Merlan with a pair of his wings that can be manifested at will for battle, healing, or just because she has always loved the comfort of having them. It was one of his gifts greatest gift to her. They're based on the lilac breasted roller, a brilliantly multi-coloured bird with purple tipped wings. As Merlan has her own magic suffusing them, they shimmer and feel more way more solid than angel wings might in the Supernatural Universe.

Nope. From Australia which has never been on the show. (And with the finale of said show, won't ever be)

Why do you think your character would work in this setting?

Why did your character accept Eli's offer or were they invited by the town council?

Accepted Eli's offer. When you're tumbling through the multiverse as a newborn angel, it's kinda hard to say no when someone gives you a chance at a new life somewhere else. She'll integrate well once she knows her way around and meets new people, which will happen pretty quickly.

How do you plan to expand their CR?

We hope to see players attempt to branch out of their (and their character's) comfort zones, and try to encourage cultivation of as much CR as possible. We feel that this responsibility is 50% on the new player, and 50% on current players; with that in mind:

Is your character a social butterfly? Do you have plots that would help expand their social circle? If not, how do you plan to work to gain CR with new people?

I wouldn't say she's a social butterfly but she likes people and is interested in them, so she'll definitely engage with as many people as possible. I'm hoping she can work in a garage or some place she can play around with mechanical devices, etc., that will open up for CR.

She's become an angel-mage. Nothing that will game-break, though. Mind-reading upon player consent but I doubt it'll come up. She doesn't know how to use most of her angelic powers at this point. Matter of figuring them out.

She had died.

Somewhere in the mix of chaos and knowledge, she knew this. She had died been reshaped, gifted or cursed, with a body that could not die. There was no need for sleep or food or nourishment. Just the endless falling and falling. Until Eli reached out to her there was a timeless void, one that was frightening, but full of possibilities. And now, there was New Dodge, a place where she would have land, a place where she could work and save and be useful.

New body.

New life.

Everyone she knew was gone in a universe where she had saved but a handful and now they were gone as well. What a cruel God to have snuffed out the lives of so many and left her alive to fall and land in one out of a million different universes. In some world, she hoped he got his reward for being a complete child.

She peered through the viewport, crossing her arms, her hazel green eyes intent as they landed. At least she had clothes, now, even if it was just a leather jacket, cargo pants, a tank top, socks, and shoes - and some of the family fortune. First thing was first, she was finding as her ass a job. Getting right to that pioneer spirit in getting herself something to do so she wouldn't go nuts. Maybe she'd forget she was an angel.

Nah.

That was hardwired in. If she closed her eyes, sometimes, just sometimes she could hear singing. Maybe it was other angels, maybe it was just tinnitus. Maybe it was falling through the multiverse knowing that her friend, the angel Micah, was gone wherever angels went and the song was hers, for him.

The shuttle landed with a whine and hiss of hydraulics.

"Hello, New Dodge," she murmured as the doors opened. "An angel just fell to your town."

Time to crack a new chapter open on this new world business. I'm currently in transport on my way to New Dodge. I can say with great joy, I'm not a naked angel anymore. Talk about awkward. Pull me in and it's just me and a pair of wings. No "God made me an angel and all I got was this t-shirt" just me naked as the day is long or whatever the phrase is.

Space is amazing. It's amazing. Zero-grav is ridiculously fun and I am into it like you wouldn't believe. You should see the overlays they have on the keypads. The shit I use for magic is pretty and all but my heart...the tech is brilliant. Okay, I got nosy and asked for some piece of tech I could dismantle and put back together again. I have never been so entertained.

Holy shit, I need more to play with. Makes my heart sing, I tell you. Maybe they'd let me play with alien tech, fix it up. I just know I can do it.

Merlan is about 4'10", a brunette with wavy hair, and hazel brownish green/amber eyes. She’s fairly slim, muscular, toned from a life that is mostly action when it isn’t research and study. She holds herself smaller than she is when she’s reading or studying but when in action, she’s confident and bold. She rarely wastes energy, which means she plans out most of her actions before she does them, even if she does that very quickly.

Background:

Merlan Margaret O'Keefe was born in Dublin, Ireland, raised as a good Catholic girl who believed in God and in the Devil and all of the weighty history Catholics carry around with them. Her favourite saint is St. Jude because he is the saint of lost causes, which she finds hilarious, actually since her quest to find her parents seems a folly at best.

You’d think everything would be normal but it wasn’t for Merlan, not really.

She was pretty hyper-observant with an early psychic talent that made her seem kinda freaky to most adults and kids alike. They called her incredibly precocious, she skipped grades, was excellent when it came to languages and was really good at fixing broken things. She wanted to be an astronaut but that didn’t work out at all. Her parents encouraged her talents but were fearful of them as well. Levitating objects scared the crap out of her mum especially. When she was about ten, two demons possessed her parents and just disappeared. To this day, she has no idea if they’re alive or dead or why they didn’t take her, too. Big mystery, right? Yeah. That’s why she’s a demon hunter. Everyone starts somewhere and that’s Merlan’s.

She wound up living with her aunt Lillian and her uncle Thomas Bishop in Ballarat, Australia, both of them were Hunters and shared their knowledge with her. They picked their fights carefully since, hell, everything is Australia wants to kill you from the snakes to the spider, bunyips, and most local lore to boot. She grew up with a healthy respect for the land and her psychic talents came in hella handy. It’s more fine control than it is power, making things like catching arrows out of air look easy.

Merlan’s language talent came in handy and she soon proved to excel at weapons and combat. Her relationship with her aunt was pretty strong and Lillian became her second mother, more so, when at sixteen, Micah, an angel, entered her life and she allowed the use of her body as a vessel. After he was finished with the mission, the angel left her in a Dublin alley and Lillian had to come pick her up and take her back to Ballarat. It was a significant trip, one of which Merlan remained silent about for years.

They were on the road most of the time after that, following a string of jobs that took them to Norway, Iceland, and eventually to Wales before heading back to Australia. It wasn’t the easiest of lives but Merlan took to it with a sense of duty. They were saving people everywhere they went, hunting down monsters or sometimes saving them from Humans depending on the circumstances. Her psychic abilities benefited from the hunting for the most part and more so when Micah popped in and out of her life.

Her uncle passed about a year ago during a hunt but Lillian’s still around, more of a shadow of herself than the strong woman she knows and loves. She's rarely home and when she is, it's for hunting supplies. Merlan is sure Lillian blames her for her uncle's death and she herself is pretty sure she got him murdered.

Merlan wound up getting several degrees in between jobs, one in Latin, a doctorate in abnormal psychology, mechanical engineering and theoretical physics. She loves to learn and it’s always good to have some real intellectual credit behind her name. Now? It’s same old, same old. Hunt, keep her land safe, get people out of jams, and just try to survive.

Personality:

Merlan is a kind but jaded soul. She's seen the world from an angel's perspective far more than she ever wanted to but there's a part of her that wants humanity to pull itself up and crawl back to grace. She is definitely a friendly person, just on the quiet side and tough as nails to boot. She also deeply cares about people. Lost, hurt, wandering, broken, lonely; no matter what fits, she makes time in her life to help them out with as much love as she can give them. She says she’s never been in love but the truth is she feels everything too deeply, so being in love for her means giving someone everything from the clothes off her back to the cash in her pocket. One of these days it’ll probably kill her.

Merlan's universe ended, Chuck pulled the plug. In desperation, Merlan ripped a portal open at the last second and escaped her dying universe. In that moment, she became an angel, a seraph (perhaps as Chuck's nod to her creativity in getting the hell out of Dodge, who knows what He's thinking), as well as the mage she was when she was human. With angelic powers she doesn't know how to use and with no one to teach her, she's alone in existence, tumbling through space and time and universes until she lands somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Canon Point: She recently finished her doctorate in Abnormal Psychology and has taken all the requisite classes and certifications to be a forensic psychologist. As such, she routinely assists police with cases. She’s been taking more Hunter jobs than usual as her aunt heals from her wounds from an attack that killed her uncle the year before. Merlan is trying to decide if she wants to take some American Hunting jobs or if she wants just pursue another degree. Before she can do that, however, God decides to be an asshole and ends her universe. Merlan, being a mage, makes a portal out, and God "rewards" her by making her a Seraphim...and sends her tumbling through time and space. That. Sucks.

Personality: Merlan is fiercely protective of those who she lets into her inner circle, often 'adopting' people and pulling them in to keep them safe. She can be too enthusiastic sometimes, too forward, even but she means well. She's always trying to help people no matter where they come from or what they need, she'd spend her last dime trying to get them the care they need or the family they lost. Some of that comes from her past and the loss of her mother and father to demon possession. Their continuing absence and her inability to find them drives her harder to give the people around her comfort and aid in their own difficult times.

She just wants to make someone's life better, safer.

If there's one thing above all she loves in life, it's learning and sharing knowledge with others, maybe even sharing their own delight in what they know. She lights up, thrives in exploring the unknown in a way that makes her the kind of person one might consider a pioneer. Be it with magic, her own psychic powers, or technology, she's got her hands and her brain in it. If she could use sticks and stones and a bit of magic to make something interesting, she'd try it just to prove a point.

Human ingenuity combined with the talents that being an angelic vessel gave her, means that she views magic in a way one might view technology - a puzzle to figure out, applications to be tapped and tested. How does one use spoken Enochian if silence is essential? How do prayers get conveyed? Is speaking psychically comparative to speaking verbally? Can you draw in your mind a project those drawings to pull angelic sigils to life? Merlan has always maintained that the only way to know for sure is to test those theories. Her entire life has been study and she thrives on it, delights in it, and if her learning can become manifest in what she can put together as a mage and scientist, then her entire life - with its strangeness and whatever misfortune it's had - is worth every second.

That's why she laughs so much and is so full of joy, it's also why she meets every challenge in her life with a smile. Nothing is impossible when you have science and magic on your side. The way just hasn't been discovered.

In a new land, the possibilities are endless. Is there a darkness to be feared? Something horrible outside? It's something to investigate or to vanquish, sure, but it's also something new to study and to learn about. The thought of that is enough to make her want to reach out, to make connections, to above all learn.

At the moment, however, about a week to a week and a half ago, she found herself with a faith healing case in Ararat, about thirty minutes from Ballarat where she lives. She was quick to investigate and found Jimmy Novak healing the locals with a talent that was as real as any she'd been given. He was malnourished, sunburned, exhausted, and suffering from some pretty nasty PTSD. She takes him home after he suffers a panic attack at the diner, much to his bewilderment.

He's been staying with her since then, healing, adjusting to a more normal life, and in this short span, Merlan's gotten to know him pretty well. They share the same bed since he wakes up often times not knowing where or even who he is and her presence seems to help him adjust faster. She does what she can to keep his life as normal as possible and for the last week, she's been involved in an intense search for Jimmy's daughter, Claire, who she's just found is alive and well.

Usually, she flies pretty solo since she’d rather not get anyone else in the line of fire and she finds it really lonely. She drinks Glenlivet, the oldest she can find, smokes clove cigarettes (and definitely has some damned good joints on her to help when the psychic noise gets way too much for her to handle) and has been never to the United States.

Lost, hurt, wandering, broken, lonely; no matter what fits, she makes time in her life to help them out with as much love as she can give them. ➸ She’s been used as a vessel before by an angel (Micah) more than a few times on and off and is pretty hardy in that respect. It's been going on since she was sixteen, sometimes for missions against the kind of demons so entrenched in people he’d needed Merlan’s help to get in and out despite being an angel. Sometimes, it was to just experience the world. It wasn’t always awesome and their start was rocky but over the years, they figured themselves out and mostly shared the driver’s seat unless things got too hot. Once that happened, Merlan curled up backseat and if things got really horrifying, Micah erased bits of her memory to keep her sane. He's a good angel, really, and he's grown very fond of humanity of late.

Even if he's currently missing, presumed dead.

His choice as her for his host was one he didn't consider lightly. She had a questing mind, hungry for answers, a love for angels, a love more living things that he admired, and as the firstborn of her parents, was a particularly hardy vessel able to withstand his angelic presence without deteriorating. She was, in a word, perfect for him.

➸ Flight/Wings: Prior to her incarnation as an angel - as protection, Micah has gifted Merlan with a pair of his wings that can be manifested at will for battle, healing, or just because she has always loved the comfort of having them. It was one of his gifts to her. They're based on the lilac breasted roller, a brilliantly multi-coloured bird with purple tipped wings. As Merlan has her own magic suffusing them, they shimmer and feel more solid than angel wings usually might.

When not in use, they appear as a pair of wings tattooed in white in down her back.

THE ANGELIC BEING: MICAH

➸ Micah was the sort of angel who stretched his vessel’s mind in strange directions, playing with her range, what she could psionically hear, what he wanted to hear the universe when he was wrapped up in her. Sometimes, she could hear a faint singing in her mind far beyond normal hearing. Micah called it the singing of spheres and the long dark reaches yet to be discovered.

Energy was everything, in everything, and he opened her eyes wide to it whenever he could, favouring cold climes that seemed to sink endlessly into her bones long after he left. Most angels might be described as fire, as comets, Micah was the coldness of space. It's left a mark on her, the kind where she's constantly seeking warmth.

He was a seraphim who, over the course of a decade, would make his host into his safe harbour and his best friend. At each possession, he intentionally saturated her with his grace until he could leave her with a few of his powers -- and of course, the potential for the wings she had always loved. He wouldn't ever get to see how her magic and his grace would manifest in her wings but he would have marveled in them.

Her favourite saint is St. Jude because he is the saint of lost causes, which she finds hilarious, actually since her quest to find her parents seems a folly at best.

You’d think everything would be normal but it wasn’t for Merlan, not really.

She was pretty hyper-observant with an early psychic talent that made her seem kinda freaky to most adults and kids alike. They called her incredibly precocious, she skipped grades, was excellent when it came to languages and was really good at fixing broken things mechanical, most of all. She wanted to be an astronaut but that didn’t work out at all, mostly because she was afraid she might get bored.

Her parents encouraged her talents but her mother was fearful of them as well. Levitating objects scared the crap out of her mum especially. When she was about ten, two demons possessed her parents and just disappeared. To this day, she has no idea if they’re alive or dead or why they didn’t take her, too. Big mystery, right? Yeah. That’s why she’s a demon Hunter. Everyone starts somewhere and that’s Merlan’s. The past informs the future and Merlan's was headed right into the path of a divine encounter.

Micah, an angel in Heaven with a cool but curious nature, was following her progress as one of his earthly vessels, and decided she was the perfect choice for his possession. He subtly guided her along her path as he strengthened his knowledge about her and her connection to the supernatural. Angels come to Earth rarely but when they did, they needed vessels to house their divine presence, solid ones, that would not crumble. It took centuries of the right breeding to do this and Merlan was on of a handful of prospects, one he took to liking immediately. She was tiny but fierce with a love for all things, witch lineage or not. The witch part of her made her doubly strong as a vessel and fascinated him.

After the incident, she wound up living with her aunt Lillian and her uncle Thomas Bishop in Ballarat, Australia, both of them were Hunters and shared their knowledge with her. They picked their fights carefully since, hell, everything is Australia wants to kill you from the snakes to the spiders, bunyips, and most local lore to boot. She grew up with a healthy respect for the land and her psychic talents came in hella handy. It’s more fine control than it is power, making things like catching arrows out of air look easy. She was closest to her aunt because they were both wielders of magic and received more knowledge and training in it. Her aunt was a quiet woman, a witch, talented in using magic and especially so with illusion. He aunt's specialty was one Merlan loved the most and she took up that side of the craft specially and found herself gifted in it. She found she was also particularly gifted in mechanics and strove to combine the two, something the aunt encouraged. Under kind tutelage, Merlan excelled and her aunt's bond with her niece grew.

Her uncle was more of a Hunter than her aunt and taught his niece all he knew about it. From weapons to lore, the man was a font of knowledge. They were close as well, as his knowledge of lore sparked her own interest in how and why creatures and demons and things out of dreams or nightmares had become or how they could be defeated. The stories written down by others were of particular interest to her, so she became something of a lore keeper with her uncle.

Merlan’s language talent came in handy and she soon proved to excel at weapons and combat. Her relationship with her aunt was pretty strong and Lillian became her second mother, more so, when at sixteen, Micah, an angel, entered her life and she allowed the use of her body as a vessel. After he was finished with the mission, the angel left her in a Dublin alley and Lillian had to come pick her up and take her back to Ballarat. It was a significant trip, one of which Merlan remained silent about for years. In the years following the Dublin incident, the angel and she grew to know more about each other and their relationship grew as well. They became fast friends and Micah, knowing one day he would probably be separated from her, and began to sink more and more of his grace into her like a seed that would combine with her magic and give her something of him to keep in her life - in this case, she grew wings. They were partly divine, partly magical, thus shaped themselves as they grew into the wings of Merlan's favourite bird, the lilac breasted roller. They were, in a sense, a minor miracle, one that took Merlan ages to figure out how to use. The relationship she had with her angel was one of intense learning, stretching of her own limits -- and his. He learned more of humanity from one woman than he had rescuing the people who so needed their help.

Merlan was his touchstone and he has chosen her as his vessel not only because she was the strongest match to him (and her family line were excellent vessels on her mother's side, growing in strength, though they sometimes skipped a generation as in Merlan's mother's case) but because of her magical potential - she could benefit from him as much as he could from her. When this world's angels Fell he was in Heaven and expelled. When he didn't come home to Merlan, she knew he must have burned with the most of the Fallen. Her mourning for him began the process in which her wings began to truly grow. Despite all the horror she had seen, she wouldn't have taken back being his vessel if the chance had been offered.

During her childhood, her aunt and uncle were on the road most of the time after that, following a string of jobs that took them to Norway, Iceland, and eventually to Wales before heading back to Australia. It wasn’t the easiest of lives but Merlan took to it with a sense of duty and use of the family fortune, flying from place to place. They were saving people everywhere they went, hunting down monsters or sometimes saving them from Humans depending on the circumstances. Her psychic abilities benefited from the hunting for the most part and more so when Micah popped in and out of her life.

Her uncle passed about a year ago during a hunt (something Merlan highly regrets because she wasn't where she needed to be and that resulted in his death - it's a massive weight she carries) but Lillian’s still around, more of a shadow of herself than the strong woman she knows and loves. She's rarely home and when she is, it's for hunting supplies. Their relationship has deteriorated to the point where Lillian just leaves notes and it wracks Merlan with guilt every time.

Merlan wound up getting several degrees in between jobs, one in Latin, a doctorate in abnormal psychology, mechanical engineering and theoretical physics. She loves to learn and it’s always good to have some real intellectual credit behind her name. Now? It’s same old, same old. Hunt, keep her land safe, get people out of jams, and just try to survive.

Without Micah, it’s hard to focus sometimes but she combats his loss by taking contract work from everything to profiling murders to being one of a few Lore researchers in the Ballarat area to Hunting. When she’s not doing that, she’s making sure the homeless are getting food, medical care, and bedding. She’s not perfect, she’s just trying to fill her time so she doesn’t think.

As part of an alternate universe that Go decided to end, Merlan managed to escape for a hot minute. God, being the sort of God he is, made her into a Seraphim so she could survive (giving him a whole new story and something interesting to follow) and left her falling through the multiverse without knowing where she would land. Now that would be a fantastic story for him to watch unfold.

APPEARANCE

Merlan is about 4'10", a brunette with wavy hair, and hazel brownish green/amber eyes. She’s fairly slim, muscular, toned from a life that is mostly action when it isn’t research and study. She holds herself smaller than she is when she’s reading or studying but when in action, she’s confident and bold. She rarely wastes energy, which means she plans out most of her actions before she does them, even if she does that very quickly.

It lasted about a year when all the Apocalypse shit went down, half the time Micah didn't bother to get her home afterward. Prior to that, she was about sixteen the first time Micah showed up and asked for her help.

DEMON KILLING RUNIC DAGGER
➸ Merlan always has this dagger on her. The runes are nordic and enochian and the blade itself will lengthen and shorten depending on the combat. It burns demons, eating away at the demonic presence rather than the person they're inhabiting. Merlan calls it a Ghost Blade because with intent, it can be used to harm the demonic spirit instead of the host itself. There are still problems when the demon locks down, so the knife can actually harm the host under those circumstances. It takes some real mojo to wield it, though, and it all depends on intent. Sometimes the host is just too damaged and dies. For Merlan, that's the worst case scenario and she knows the names of everyone who dies at the hand of her blade.

NOTE: This will be taken from her on entry along with a pump action shotgun, rocksalt bullets, a Smith & Wesson 9mm packing silver bullets, a crossbow, nineteen silver tipped arrows, a bullwhip, six silver throwing daggers, and set of lockpicks.

How's that for a change of scenery? Not a demon, definitely not an angel - no rocket fueled, strapped to a comet, vertigo. Merlan seemed fine, other than being weirdly cold. Sitting up took a few moments and she immediately pulled up her psychic barriers to ward of any incoming noise. It's enough to be awake at the moment. Her hazel eyes swept the hospitality deck as far as she could see and she reached for her knife - the good one - but it wasn't there. Merlan patted herself down carefully and wrinkled her nose in displeasure, she'd been geared up for a fight, armed to the teeth, and now? Nothing. God, it's like being naked.

There's a slight moment of panic at the loss but she pushed that down to concentrate on everything around her. The dull ache in her arm was gone from when she busted open a window a few days ago and probably cracked something when a ghost decided to be a righteous prick and fling her across the kitchen.

She pulled her legs in to cross them and scowled.

"Well, at least you didn't take my goddamn smokes," Merlan grumbled, finding a pack of clove cigarettes where she left them. The bottle of Glenlivet's there, too. Man. Damned good thing, too. She pulled it out to give a long look. "Or my whisky. Now that would have been incredibly rude."

Swinging her legs over the bed after a full check of inventory - like the holy water was still around, so was her lighter (and her very, very good weed still in its baggie along with rolling papers), she stood up. It would be stupid not to go exploring.

"I told Aunt Lillian wanted a change of scenery," she muttered, squinting out the window. "This? Yeah, okay. Not really what I was looking for but whatever. A change is a goddamn change."
